What is a Hybrid Mattress? Let me show you how to open it!

    1. How is this thing made? It's like a sandwich!

To put it simply, a hybrid mattress is made by stacking the hardness of springs and the softness of sponges together. It is roughly divided into three layers, and each layer is responsible for a certain task:

    Bottom layer (support):

Main force: They are basically "independent pocket springs" - that is, countless small springs are wrapped up separately, and they do their own things when you lie on them. You move your own things, and it doesn't affect the people next to you. There are also old-fashioned "whole net springs", which are cheaper, but the anti-interference is not good enough.

What is it used for: Support your body and don't let it collapse. The air permeability mainly depends on this layer of gaps.

Middle layer (to serve you comfort):

Stacking area: At least two layers for you! Common ones include: memory foam (fits your body), latex (elastic and breathable), memory foam with gel (cooler), and some high-end ones use "micro coils" (ultra-small springs, more fitting).

What is it used for: It is specially used to treat the uncomfortable places on your body (shoulders, buttocks), so that you can sink in comfortably, but not to the bottom.

    Surface layer (skin-attached):

Fine ones: Use breathable materials such as cotton, bamboo fiber, and some "phase change materials" (sounds mysterious, but it helps you absorb and release heat so that you don't feel dry when you sleep).

What is it used for: The first touch should be comfortable, and the key is to dissipate heat! You can't sleep well if you sweat all over.

    Thickness? It's really solid!

Generally 10 to 14 inches thick (about 25 to 35 cm), like a big square brick.

The middle layer of "filling" that makes you comfortable should start at least 3 inches (7.5 cm)! The expensive ones can be piled up to 6 inches (15 cm), and lying on them feels like floating.

    2. Is this stuff good or not? We put the good and bad on the table!

Why are so many people rushing to buy it? Here are the advantages:

It is both supportive and soft, and you can have the best of both worlds: The springs at the bottom support your waist straight, and the sponges at the top serve your shoulders and buttocks comfortably. It is not as uncomfortable as a pure spring bed, nor as sagging as a pure sponge bed.

Breathable and not stuffy: The gaps in the spring layer are not given for nothing, and air can circulate, which is much cooler than a whole large piece of memory foam, especially good news for those who are afraid of heat.

You dont know when your partner turns over: Independent pocket springs are really good! The person next to you turns over in the middle of the night, and you feel so small, you should sleep on your side.

Not picky about people, anyone can sleep on it: No matter whether you like to lie flat on your back, or curl up to sleep on your side, or your weight ranges from 100 pounds to more than 200 pounds, this mattress can serve you almost all. It is especially suitable for lying flat and sleeping on your side.

Of course, it is not a god, and you have to admit its shortcomings:

You need to have a thick wallet: It is much more expensive than pure spring or pure foam! It is normal to be 20% to 50% more expensive. The mainstream price is basically between 1,000 and 3,000 US dollars (in China, it ranges from several thousand to less than 20,000), and there is no upper limit for high-end products.

The bedside collapsed when you sat on it? It is possible: Cheap or poorly designed, it is easy to slide down when you sit on the bedside (especially fat people). Want to avoid it? Look for the "reinforced edge" design! The edge of the bed will be harder for you.

It is very heavy! The price of solid materials. The lightest one is 60 catties, and the heaviest one can be over 150 catties! Moving, going upstairs? Be prepared to call two strong laborers, or pay extra to hire a professional mover.

How long can it last? It depends on the conscience of the "filling": Springs are generally very durable, and the key is the layers of sponge on top! Cheap, low-density foam may be flattened after sleeping for three to five years, and your waist may be crooked. Want to use it for a longer time? Choose good materials and look for brand reputation!

    3. When buying a hybrid mattress, pay close attention to these things!

Springs are the foundation, and youre doomed if you choose the wrong one

Close your eyes and rush to the small springs (independent pocket springs): the kind that wraps up springs one by one. Advantages? When you turn over, the person next to you cant feel it at all (strong anti-interference), and it will support the waist and back wherever it needs support (precise support). When choosing, look at the number of Queen-sized spring packages, and its more reliable to have more than 1,000!

Blacklist the whole net spring (continuous coil): cheap but a rip-off! The whole bed trembles when you move, and you sway when the person next to you turns over. The support is also poor, and its easy to fall into a pit.

The soft layer on top (comfort layer) is all about comfort

Memory foam: lying on it feels like being hugged gently, especially decompression, and people with shoulder and back pain will love it. But! Ordinary memory foam can wake you up with heat! Look for gel memory foam or open-hole memory foam, which is much more breathable and heat-dissipating.

Latex (natural/synthetic): It feels elastic and strong when sleeping, and it wont let you sink in. The key is that it is naturally cool and breathable. It is the first choice for brothers who are afraid of sweating. Disadvantages? It will hurt your wallet. It is more expensive than memory foam.

Ordinary sponge (polyurethane foam): It is really cheap, but it is not durable! It will collapse after one or two years of use, and the support is also poor. If you use this as a base layer, just pass it!

If the softness and hardness are not right, you will suffer all over when you wake up

Medium hardness (Medium): It is a panacea! Especially for those who have back problems and toss and turn when sleeping, choose it for the most stability, and the spine will not suffer easily.

Medium-Soft (Medium-Soft): Good news for side sleepers and those who are light (under 130 pounds), with less pressure on shoulders and buttocks.

Medium-Firm (Medium-Firm): Friends who like to sleep on their stomachs and those who are heavy (over 230 pounds), please look over here, the stomach will not sink, and the waist can be supported.

What is a Hybrid Mattress? Let me show you how to open it!

Don't be a sucker for certificates and after-sales service

Certificates are the bottom line! Look for CertiPUR-US (guarantee that the foam is free of toxic chemicals) and OEKO-TEX (the fabric is environmentally friendly and safe). Don't have these two? Don't joke with your body!

    4. Who is most suitable for sleeping on a hybrid mattress? Find your seat!

Brothers with back and joint pain: The zoned support of the hybrid mattress (especially the waist reinforcement) plus the decompression of the soft layer on top, two-pronged approach to relieve pain. Getting up in the morning is not so difficult!

Heat-averse people/stove physique: The bottom spring layer can be breathable and ventilated, which is a hundred times stronger than the full foam stuffy tank! Coupled with gel memory foam or latex, it is so cool and comfortable.

Sleeping with your partner/pet: The small springs are your lifesaver! The person next to you rolls over, and you are as steady as a rock. You can sleep on your own without disturbing each other.

Side sleepers or flat-lying people: The soft material on the top can perfectly fit your body curve, and your spine can remain naturally straight. Sleeping on your stomach? Just choose the medium-hard model mentioned above, and don't let your stomach collapse!

    5. Don't make a mess when you buy it home, it will last a long time if you maintain it well

The bed frame must be strong enough! Don't use a soft and old bed board or a slat frame with too large seams (the seams should not exceed 7.5 cm/3 inches). Otherwise, there will be no support under the mattress, and it will quickly deform, and the warranty may not be recognized!

"Turn it over" every six months! That is, swap the position of the head and tail (don't turn the whole surface over! The top layer is single-sided). This way, the pits you sleep on will be more even and extend the life.

Don't play tricks when cleaning! Just vacuum the dust as usual. Did it get dirty by accident? Use cold water + mild soapy water, and wipe gently! Do not wash, soak, or steam it! It will break in minutes.
